New Energies Coalition Study on marine electrofuels

calendarFebruary 13, 2025
The New Energies Coalition, as part of its working group dedicated to e-fuels for maritime, is proud to share the insights of a new study conducted by the consultancy Ricardo, in 2023 & 2024. The main objective of this study is to compare the environmental performance of e-fuels, such as e-methane, e-methanol, e-ammonia, and liquefied hydrogen, with traditional fossil fuels. By evaluating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions throughout the life cycle of these fuels, the study aims to identify the most emissive stages and propose solutions to optimize the production and use of e-fuels. This in-depth analysis is intended to support decision-making regarding future maritime fuels and to promote their development for effective decarbonization of the sector.
