- The New Energies Coalition organizes its 4th CEOs meeting in Marseille
- A reaffirmed ambition to act together to accelerate the energy transition in transport and logistics
- 14 working groups set up since 2019 to identify and develop solutions for decarbonizing the sector
On 7 July 2023, the CEOs of New Energies met at the CMA CGM Tower in Marseille for their annual meeting, the 4th since the Coalition was launched at the end of 2019.
It was an opportunity to review progress made, but also to make official the Coalition's new name, new visual identity and the launch of its website.
Working together to accelerate the decarbonization of transport and logistics
The New Energies Coalition, launched 3 years ago at the Assises de la Mer conference, is a consortium of 18 of the world's leading players from several sectors, all concerned by and committed to a more sustainable transport and logistics chain.
Airbus, Air liquide, Arcelor Mittal, AWS, Bureau Veritas, Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank, Carrefour, Cluster Maritime Français, CMA CGM, Engie, Kuehne+Nagel Group, Michelin, PSA, Rolls Royce, PSA International, Schneider Electric, TotalEnergies, Veolia, Wartsila.
Through a collaborative approach, they aim to develop innovative technologies and energy solutions to decarbonize maritime, air and road activities worldwide.
Because the challenges to be met are immense and time is short, the members of New Energies have decided to join forces to act together faster and stronger.
This ambition was reaffirmed at this annual meeting of CEOs, chaired by Rodolphe SAADE, Chairman and CEO of the CMA CGM Group.
14 working groups set up since 2019 and new subjects identified
In its 3 years of existence, 14 working groups have been set up, each exploring a solution that aims to contribute to the decarbonization of transport and logistics.
The development of biofuels and e-fuels for shipping and aviation, hydrogen for road transport, CO2 sequestration and valorization, decarbonization of the last mile or long-haul trucking... all the solutions and energies are being studied, throughout the transport and logistics chain.
While some projects are now closed, others will report back by the end of 2023. This is notably the case for the 2 studies relating to the life cycle analysis of maritime biofuels and the best pathways of producing e-fuels or synthetic fuels for aviation.
New subjects have also been identified and will very shortly give rise to new working groups.
