On July 3, the leaders of the New Energies Coalition gathered at the CMA CGM Group headquarters in Marseille for their annual strategic meeting. This event was particularly symbolic, marking five years of collective action in favor of the energy transition in the transport and logistics sectors.
This meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on the Coalition's achievements and discuss future ambitions. To celebrate this milestone, a special video retracing our journey and perspectives was presented and will soon be shared with our community.
Two New Members Join the Coalition
This year, the Coalition was pleased to welcome two new members, who will enrich our work with their expertise:
- Onet: A key player in secure operations on sensitive sites, particularly in the nuclear, port, and logistics platform sectors, Onet brings valuable and complementary perspectives to our discussions.
- Vicat: A leader in the cement and infrastructure sector, Vicat innovates in circular economy models and invests in Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologies.
These new collaborations strengthen our ability to tackle the complex challenges of the energy transition.
Five Years of Achievements and Ambitious Future Projects
Since its creation, the Coalition has launched more than 30 working groups, each dedicated to key issues in the decarbonization of transport and logistics. This year, members highlighted several major advancements, including the publication of a report on The Role of Nuclear Energy in Maritime Decarbonization.
Ongoing and upcoming projects focus on essential topics such as:
- The impacts of European regulations on the decarbonization of road transport.
- The costs of the energy transition in the maritime sector.
- The potential of hydrothermal gasification.
- Scope 3 emissions and the development of a CO2 data exchange platform, in partnership with io2e as part of the Hermione project.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to explore new strategic areas, including artificial intelligence, real-time data, and intermodality, which will be central to our future work.
A Shared Vision for a Sustainable Future
This annual meeting reaffirmed the collective commitment of the Coalition's members to building a more sustainable global logistics chain. Through collaboration and innovation, we continue to lay the groundwork for an ambitious and necessary energy transition.
Together, we are moving toward a future where transport and logistics go hand in hand with sustainability.
